Turn use of lock code on your Apple iPad (9th Generation) iPadOS 18 on or off

The lock code protects the contents of your tablet from unauthorised use (such as pictures and messages). When the lock code is turned on, it needs to be used every time you turn on your tablet and when it has been in sleep mode.

1. Find "Touch ID & Passcode"

Press Settings.

2. Turn on use of lock code

Press Turn Passcode On and key in a lock code of your own choice twice.

3. Turn deletion of data on or off

Press the indicator next to "Erase Data" to turn the function on or off.

If you turn on the function, press Enable.

4. Turn off use of lock code

Press Turn Passcode Off and key in the lock code.

5. Return to the home screen

Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

3. Turn deletion of data on or off

5. Return to the home screen

Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
